    Services:

  • Bethany

Birth and Postpartum Doula, CPR Instructor

Bethany became interested in birth work after feeling in awe of the birthing experience with her own birth. Despite feeling the wonder and beauty of the birthing experience, she had an isolating birth and postpartum journey. She knew she wanted to be invested in creating a birthing culture that centers the birthing person, increases positive outcomes, and creates community. She believes that choosing a doula is choosing to create a new relationship. Another philosophy she holds is “a doula is who you are, not what you do” (Traci Weaver). When she first talks with someone who wants to have a child or who is expecting, she wants to know what they envision for their birth. What support are they looking for and what support can she offer to help meet their needs and desires? She advocates for the birthing person’s wants and needs to be centered. She strives to be open, honest, transparent, hold space for different opinions and desires, and to continue her learning through professional mentoring and training. As a labor doula, some of the greatest benefits she offers are: providing evidence-based resources for pregnancy/labor/birth, traditional and cultural wisdom and practices, emotional and practical support during the birth, and postpartum follow up and home visits. As a postpartum doula, some of the greatest benefits she offers are: healing and rest practices, a listening and supportive ear, support and reassurance with baby care and feeding, support with household tasks and cooking, and resources and referrals for your questions and needs.

    Services:

  • Anna

    Postpartum Doula

Anna brings years of experience in serving women, caring for infants, and holding space. Having begun her career as a postpartum doula as a mother of young children, she was driven to provide the care and support to mothers and families that she so greatly benefitted from herself. Taking a special interest in twins and premies, she became highly skilled in infant soothing and complicated feeding and sleep needs. Taking a break from postpartum doula care for some time, Anna most recently worked in reproductive health care as a counselor and later an administrator. Holding space for the people in need became a vitally needed skill, and she leaned on her experience in postpartum care to fulfill it. During the pandemic Anna left healthcare in pursuit of a more personal, vulnerable, community care and returned to postpartum doula service. Anna believes strongly in the sacred connection of the mother/baby (or babies) bond, and centers her care around protecting and nourishing it. She sees it as an honor to hold space for the mother in this vulnerable and crucial time of postpartum, whether that is talking through a difficult birth, advising on breastfeeding or bottle feeding techniques, baby soothing and swaddling, cooking and doing laundry - whatever is needed to ensure that mother’s load is lightened enough that her only care is the baby.
